What to Expect

01

A Real Conversation

Your first appointment starts with us listening. We want to understand your pain or problem, how it affects your daily life, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping to get back to. This context shapes everything that comes next.

02

Thorough Physical Examination

Our sports medicine physician performs a comprehensive physical exam specific to your complaint. We assess movement, strength, range of motion, and any relevant joint or soft tissue findings — not a five-minute checkout.

03

A Clear Diagnosis

We explain what we think is happening in plain language. If imaging is clinically indicated, we'll order it or review what you've already had. If it isn't needed, we'll explain why — and you won't be sent for unnecessary scans.

04

Your Personalized Plan

Before you leave, you'll know exactly what the plan is — whether that's rehab, manual therapy, a follow-up visit, or a combination. You'll know what we expect to happen and what to watch for. No mystery, no guessing.

Our Promise to You

You will leave knowing what's wrong, why it's happening, and what we're going to do about it.

Too many patients leave medical appointments more confused than when they arrived. That's not acceptable care. We take the time to explain things clearly — because understanding your condition is part of recovering from it.

Integrated Care Team

Depending on your needs, your care at RidgePoint may involve our sports medicine physician, rehab specialist, and/or chiropractor — all working from the same plan.

You won't have to re-explain your history to each person. The team communicates internally so your care is seamless.

We Build a Plan Around
Your Goals — Not a Template.

Before You Come In

How to Prepare

Coming prepared helps us use your appointment time as efficiently as possible — and ensures we get the full picture right away.

Bring any prior imaging

X-rays, MRI reports, ultrasound results — bring them or have your office send them ahead of time.

Know your medication list

Include any supplements, NSAIDs, or injections you've received for this problem.

Note what makes it better or worse

Positions, activities, times of day — these patterns tell us a lot about what's happening clinically.

Think about your goals

What do you want to get back to? Running a race, returning to work, picking up your grandkids, hiking without pain — knowing this helps us build the right plan.

Bring your insurance card & ID

We'll handle the rest at check-in. Insurance and payment options will be discussed before your visit.

Wear comfortable clothing

We'll need to examine the affected area — clothing that allows access to the relevant body part makes the exam easier.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor? +

No. You can schedule directly with RidgePoint without a physician referral. We welcome self-referred patients. If your doctor referred you, that's great too — we'll communicate directly with their office throughout your care.

What's the difference between RidgePoint and a regular physical therapy clinic? +

RidgePoint is a comprehensive musculoskeletal clinic, not a standalone PT clinic. We begin with a physician-led sports medicine evaluation, which establishes the diagnosis and guides the plan. From there, care may involve rehabilitation, manual therapy, corrective exercise, or procedural care — all from one integrated team. This model catches things that might be missed when starting treatment without a diagnosis.

Will I need surgery? +

Probably not. The majority of musculoskeletal conditions can be managed effectively without surgery. Our approach is conservative-first — we exhaust non-operative options before considering anything more invasive. If surgery is genuinely the right path for your situation, we will tell you clearly and help facilitate the appropriate referral. We will never push you toward surgery unnecessarily.

How long will my first appointment be? +

Initial evaluations typically take 45–60 minutes. This is intentional — we take the time needed to understand your history, perform a thorough exam, and build a plan. Follow-up visits are shorter but still substantive.

Do you accept insurance? +

We are in the process of establishing insurance contracts. Please contact us directly at info@ridgepointmed.com to discuss current insurance participation and payment options before scheduling. We want to make sure there are no surprises.

Will I see the same provider each visit? +

Depending on your care plan, you may work primarily with one provider or rotate between our sports medicine physician, rehab specialist, and chiropractor. Regardless of who you see, the team communicates and works from a single shared plan — so you never have to re-explain your situation.

I've already tried PT somewhere else. Can you still help? +

Absolutely. Many of our patients have seen other providers before coming to RidgePoint. We start fresh with a physician evaluation to make sure the diagnosis is correct — sometimes the reason previous treatment didn't work is that the underlying problem wasn't fully identified. We don't dismiss prior care; we build on what's been tried and fill in the gaps.
